ALL ABOUT LEILA TILGHMAN

Thanks for visiting my website! Art and animation are my passions, working in both the traditional and digital arenas. I have extensively studied animation and art with talented artists and animators. My mentors have been Glenn Vilppu, Stephen Silver, Tom Tataranowicz, Dennis Venizelos, Bob Kline, Rik Maki, Rich Arons, Steve Gordon and Karl Gnass.
I am currently doing freelance illustrations and character designs. I worked on the development of a couple of animated television series at Deluxe Animation and Perry Productions. For both companies, I designed the main characters and the overall look. I researched and presented the producers various concept designs and ideas keeping in mind the appropriate location and time period. I staged various action scenarios and addressed any notes given. I also cleaned up and colored the final look.
At Gang of Seven Animation I started as an intern and worked my way into a job. I worked on everything from creating designs and fine-tuning artwork for the feature Life and Adventures of Santa Claus, assistant animating on the short Change for a Dollar and created several promotional movies for various projects.
In addition to working in an animation and illustration, I taught animation at California State University, Northridge, introducing students to the fundamental principles of animation.
In my spare time, I am a member of various animation and artistic societies, such as Women in Animation and Girls Drawing Girls. I have also volunteered at Pacoima Enrichment Academy, Pacoima Charter Elementary School’s Kindergarten helping the children with art projects, discovering their creative side, of which I am enthusiastic about.
I received my bachelor’s of art degree from the California State University, Northridge with a concentration in animation and was in the graduate animation program at University of California, Los Angeles. As a student, I have been fortunate to receive internships at the prominent studios of Warner Brothers, DreamWorks in the Feature Animation VFX Department, Hanna Barbera and
Gang of Seven Animation.
